Hi I do bump into things now which I never used to, get slightly off balance, also have started dropping things. May be you should do things slowly now.

Hello,
Yes I do fall over quite a bit. My feet drag and ankles give way so I think thats what trips me up - also I was born clumsy

Yes, I`ve had a few falls since I was diagnosed - my rheumy says it`s because my feet won`t lift properly. It really knocks your confidence, especially when you can`t get back on your feet without help. Kathleen x

Me too, I drop things, bump into things and fall over! The worst thing is not being able to get up without help.

I can join the bumping club. I often find bruises on my arms and legs. Since getting rid of the bath and installing a shower, the ones on my lower legs are far less. I think the ones on my arms are from bouncing off the walls, a little like a ball in a Pin Ball Machine!

Yes I'm extremely unsteady on my feet. Sometimes I take my umberella out with me (I have had a rubber thingy put on the pointy bit at the top) and use that as stick-gives me so much more confidence. YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Hi, I also have Meniere's Disease and we think there could be a link seeing as my first symptom was my knees and then the Meniere's started not long after. I got formal diagnoses for both RA and Meniere's within four months of the other. I am quite clumsy now but I'm not sure if it's the MD or the RA. I use a stick to aid walking as the MD means I'm off balance the vast majority of the time. I do walk into things a lot, trip over. I don't think I pick my feet up properly which causes a lot of my trips. I've only ever gone over twice and the first time I laughed but the last time (this year) it terrified me as I landed on my hands and thought I'd damaged them even more. Thanks to my quick thinking hubbie who grabbed me and prevented me landing too hard only my pride was badly hurt. I drop things a lot now but that's a pavlovian reaction to reacting and hurting myself. Now if something slips out of my gammy hands I let it go. I've hurt myself too many times trying to grab things and causing myself damage. Wow, this RA is so complex.

I am constantly worried about falling. With me it is my weak and swollen ankles.
I have a rollator, when I am walking out on my own. It steadies me and the little basket in front is excellent for shopping. I don`t feel safe anymore without it. A stick has never really helped me. I stumple so easily and I am terrified of breaking bones, and if I (God forbid) fall I cannot get up on my own.
Yesterday morning I fell out of bed, I think I went dizzy as I was getting up and just slid down on the floor. I did not hurt myself, but it took hubby all his strength to get me up. What a fool I felt!!! and shaken. It is awful to feel so helpless. It makes me depressed.
